BEST AND WORST DRESSED AT THE OSCARS 2014

The Oscars: Best and Worst Dressed 2014

On March 2, 2014, the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood held the 86th Anniversary of the Oscars and as always we were all eager to see who was wearing who on the red carpet. We all know we watch the Oscars to drool over the Hollywood sweethearts and this year was no different. The simplicity of nude or seductive red, many of our favourite celebrities managed to wow us all once again.

SALLY HAWKINS

The beautiful actress wowed us all after turning up to the red carpet wearing a Valentino long-sleeved dress, covered in sparkling white and gold sequins. As beautiful as the dress is alone, there is no doubt that she made the gown look effortless. Her short brown curly hair helped show off the detailing of the dress as it sits perfectly above her shoulders. No need for heavy makeup when wearing a detailed dress like this!

JENNIFER LAWRENCE

Looking absolutely breath-taking, Jennifer Lawrence did not fail to impress us once again with her strapless Dior gown with added peplum detail. The simplicity of the scarlet red dress complemented well with her short hairstyle and backwards necklace which draped across her back giving the back of the dress more detail. Her makeup was beautifully subtle allowing her the dress to speak for itself.

CATE BLANCHETT

Wearing Giorgio Armani, this was one of the dresses that stood out the most on the night. The beads and Swarovski crystals contrasted well against the nude capped sleeve dress. Fitting in at the waist and floating out towards the bottom, this elegant piece was a definite winner. The high neck line complemented her waved hair and dropped earrings beautifully, adding sophistication and typical Hollywood glamour to the red carpet.

LADY GAGA

Gaga wasn’t her usual eccentric self when arriving at the red carpet and disappointed us all wearing a curve-hugging strapless dress with a pink floor length scarf. She definitely played it safe but it may have looked slightly better without the chiffon scarf.

  PHARRELL WILLIAMS

The man himself stunned us all when he arrived at the red carpet wearing shorts.., yes shorts. He took a major risk this year wearing a Lanvin tux and cropped trousers which he sort of pulled it off but it was definitely a shock to us all, you either love it or you hate it… you choose!
