MAGAZINE INSPIRATION

With this blog post, I thought I would share a bit more of my Photography work and edits. Because I have a really strong interest in magazines and their front covers combined with Photography, I thought I could merge them both together and create some new edits towards my final project. With the theme being 80's and over the top colours and ideas, by purposely indicating this to the audience it can draw them in and can create some form of narrative. The captioned images makes me think of a front cover of a fashion magazine and after creating these images, I found a Vogue version on Google, which I thought was extremely ironic! This is what I mean:

I know it looks obvious and quite basic with what I am showing you but it can portray many thoughts and suggestions within the image - well that's how I see it myself! I love the way the effect of the editing has brought out all the colours from the hair to the top. Even so, I think the main focal point of this image, is the sun glasses and the images within the lenses. I think it's fascinating how the edit turned out!

This photograph is where I started to use Photo Montage to help emphasise the theme and help make the photograph stand out individually. The enlarged lips and earrings create a 'creepy' but fantastic effect. In my eyes, it gives off a stereotypical woman and how men portray us females in the perspective of bold make-up or big lips etc.

This simple black and white image here brings out the colour of the lips and lipstick and brings it life. The idea of the red being so bold is that its a powerful colour and implies how powerful woman can be. This colour can have mixed approaches and can be taken to be various emotions. In this image I felt like it was a more indulging colour and draws in the audience. As you can see the cardboard cut out of the lipstick is something I had taken inspiration from Miles Aldridge - a brilliant photographer - and gave me the idea to enlarge a lipstick to A4 size to emphasise the item.

The final image, is something I took a risk with a wasn't out to achieve anything. Its great what boredom can create, soon as I started I couldn't stop and definitely went over the top with it. Which is why I thought the caption fitted perfectly. The idea behind this was to bring out all my edits together into one image and show all the bold colours and the contrast between a more subtle idea to a bold extravagant idea.
